Just got a $3,500 offer for my bike. Two things:
How do I go about dealing with test riders just to be safe?
Should I also keep a copy of their license in case they pull a fast one?

I recently (in January) bought a bike when I didn’t at that time own a bike. The seller I thought very reasonably said he didn’t want anyone test riding that didn’t show up on their own bike. Eventually he brought the bike to my mechanic’s shop (where he keeps 2 out of 3 of his own personal bikes at any given time) and my mechanic did the test ride.
I also think having some cash in hand is a good requirement. We didn’t do it that way since I basically told the seller that I would pay their ask immediately assuming the bike was as described, and the rider had 30+ years experience, but it seems like a decent plan.
Also meet up at a neutral but safe location. I’ve done a lot of deals but for cars in bank parking lots.

Meet at a police station.
Take a picture of their license on your phone.

This is good enough to be its own post.

The cost of the test ride is $3,500. If they drop it, the sale is already complete.
Yes to only people showing up on a bike.
Yes to meeting in an active police station parking lot.
